Braving Insecurities

The spark. A session that changed everything and kicked off Melissa Dean Boudoir.

An experience where being vulnerable and breaking through barriers is the highlight of the session. To do something unapologetically for ourselves with no judgement and to feel our own beauty and finally see our own light on the other side.

Braving Insecurities

(Before we start, Chelsie gave permission for her name and photos to be used. If you would like to keep your name and photos private, that is ALWAYS an option here.)

My experience with Chelsie sparked my soul in ways that I wasn't anticipating. It was real. It was raw. We were vulnerable. She wanted to fully embrace her insecurities. Her message to me spoke so deeply.

"I'd like to do a realistic boudoir shoot. It's hard for me-but I feel like I want to emphasize my imperfections. I have stretch marks all over my stomach and thighs that have bothered me in the past but don't seem to anymore."

About a week before her session, nerves started to get the best of her, but let's be real for a second, this is scary. Getting out of your comfort zone is always scary. Your ego (not like a big head ego, but more like your internal compass) tries to keep you safe. It doesn't want you to be bold and break into the unknown. Your ego doesn't want you to take risks because it can't know if you'll be okay on the other side.

This is normal. It's normal to overthink and panic. Letting go of control is one of the hardest things we can do - then add to that the vulnerability aspect. Of-fucking-course your ego doesn't want to let you out of your bubble.

But, that's where growth happens. That's how you emerge and truly, you'll break out of this feeling stronger than you could possibly know. You have to get uncomfortable. You have to let your guard down. You have to go all in.

Before the session started, I had her set an intention for the next two hours. Hers was "Honest". We cranked the music and let loose. We danced (and personally, I don't ever dance- but I couldn't help it. It was just the energy in the room.) We talked. We embraced the experience together. The next two hours seemed to fly by and Chelsie freakin ROCKED her session.

These sessions are all unique.

Your session experience will absolutely differ from everyone else's, just as your journey does.

You just have to be brave enough to face your insecurities head on.

I promise you'll emerge from this on the other side feeling stronger.
